Isn’t it funny how life goes? Seven days ago, I was completely unaware of the Uzima expo. After receiving a flyer for the event at the Southbank last Saturday, and then meeting the gorgeous Michelle (NaturallyNubian) at the Keziah Connections event the following Tuesday, there I was with the ‘Mister’ in tow at Conway Hall shaking a foot to’ She’s Royal’ by Taurrus Riley. The positivity in the venue was palpable! After getting your wristband (so that you can come and go) and your goody bag (an unexpected by gratefully received bonus) , I everyone was smiling and chatting and enjoying myself like everyone else . Before I knew it, I was swapping short neck/big earrings challenges with the Calabash.com stallholder and encouraging another lady to convert her headbands into necklaces. There was shea butter galore with other natural hair products, Moringa tea, earrings, rings necklaces and clothes Afrocentric literature and stationary, drumming and martial arts demonstrations and workshops. I had an amazing Caribbean roti, but I was sooo hungry… and it was soooo delicious that I had already devoured half of it before I remembered to take a picture!!!
I look forward to the next one – here are some pictures…
