Evolve Organic Beauty Gentle Cleansing Melt

Evolve Gentle Cleansing Melt

I have used cleansing milks, and creams and oil and balms, but never a cleansing melt – let me introduce Evolve’s Organic Beauty Gentle Cleansing Melt.  Not only does this product have  Eco Cert accreditation, Evolve’s products are parabens, SLS/SLES, phthalates, synthetic fragrance and colour free, and their packaging is made from recycled plastic.  They are a brand for whom their carbon footprint is integral to the philosophy of the brand and not just a marketing tool.

The melt comes in a robust pinkie/lilac tub with a screw on lid and on opening there is an inner lid which a product of this consistence definitely needs.  This is a gel which holds its shape and the inner lid helps to contain the product.  This product is for normal to dry skin and even though I have combination skin, in these colder months I am finding that it is not too rich or  heavy to use day or night.

The ingredients are sunflower oil, some sugar (in the form of sucrose, not crystallised – this product is not grainy) and a bit of magic.  Eh voila –  Evolve have created this  gel, which stays a gel when it is applied to the skin but as you start to massage it into the skin, you start to see the magic.  After about fifteen to twenty seconds, depending on how much you have on your face, there is  a moment of instantaneous change, it ‘melts’ and it becomes and oil.  At this point you can continue to massage it into the skin for as long or as little time as you desire.  I love a cleanser where you can really spend time massaging it into the skin and you are not stopped by a lack of slip half way through your facial massage, and this melt is in that category.  The oil it melts into is quite thin but it is not super runny on the skin.  It means that you can sit in front to the telly and really massage the contours of your face.  The fact that it is gel also means that you can get a good deep cleanse pretty quickly so it is great to use in the morning as well.

The cleanser smells really really sweet, not only is it a sugar based product, it is fragranced with vanilla. To be honest, the whiff of the fragrance is a little overpowering for me – and I am a sugar addict!   Over the weeks that I have been using it, I have become accustomed to it but on the face the fragrance is still present, but when massaging around the nose area you definitely get the sweetness.

If you rinse it off with water, it turns milky on the skin and it does rinse of easily but I like to use a flannel.  After use the skin is not taught or tight and it does not irritate the eyes if used on that area.  I prefer to use a make up remover prior to a cleanser but I have used this to take make up off and it worked quite well.  I am enjoying this product, despite the smell and the melting action always makes me smile, even though I know it is coming.
