Pucker Up: Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick Starry Eyed (128)

I am nearly at the end of my second bullet of this colour and I have a new one ready and waiting in my beauty cupboard.  This colour has been my go to lipstick for a few years now and I don’t like to be without it.   The packaging is sturdy yet attractive.  The lid clicks on solidly  and the name of the lipstick is displayed clearly on the bottom of the tube.  As my eyesight is deteriorating, I appreciate this alot!

The colour is quite difficult to describe.  It is a medium toned plum with a bit of red in it, but is not burgundy and it is not maroon, it is definitely on the purple spectrum.  My lips are dark, but this colour  is not very dark on me.  Not quite a neutral but a very wearable colour that works well with lots of make up looks.  It benefits from being applied carefully with a lip pencil and all that jazz, but in reality, this is a lip colour that I  apply from the bullet in the morning in front of the mirror and then just touch up as the day progresses.  I find that it fades first on my bottom lip and a quick swipe, with or without a mirror is all that is needed to replenish it. Because the colour is quite neutral on me, I find that it is quite forgiving if my lips are not in best condition (ie in need of exfoliating). The formula is lovely.  It does not drag at all and application is very even.  It is a very moisturising, very good quality lipstick

I am someone that likes food so between the cups of tea and cake ahem cereal bars that I eat during the day I generally touch up at lunchtime. If I am heading out after work, at the end of the day.  The way it fades is beautiful, it becomes  a stain, so if I have not reapplied, it does not look messy. Despite my bottom lip being a completely different colour from my top lip, I don’t need to ‘fill in the colour’ with a lip pencil to get an even application on my bottom lip.

I have checked the Rimmel London website and it would appear that this colour is no longer being made.  That said, I have seen it in my local Superdrug and it is still available online so it is worth a try if you are in the market for a mid to dark toned reddy plum colour.

Swatch photo taken with flash which makes it look more pink toned then it is.

It also makes a really great cream blush.  Dont be fooled – not all lipsticks work as a blush when you swipe them across the cheeks, and not all colours are suitable for this use, but Starry Eyed, because it is so moisturising spreads easily and evenly across the cheeks and as a black woman, it provides definition to the cheek without being obviously pink or red.  Great for someone like me who has a big face and needs a bit of definition.

Because it is moisturising, you can really put load the colour on without looking like a clown.  It is moisturising so it has a sheen from that but it does not have glitter or shimmer.  This is a great colour to wear to a Valentines dinner colour because it is so easy to apply and it fades so nicely.
