Combating Winter Dry Skin: Nip + Fab Coconut Latte Dry Skin Fix Body Butter.

Nip and Fab Coconut Lattee Dry SKin Fix Body Butter

It is not everyday that body creams are brown , a bit like tissues, the norm is white.  I don’t know why, but I am always drawn to products that aren’t white.

Nip + Fab is the younger cheaper sister of RODIAL and thus Dry Skin Fix Body Butter is the  first product from the range that I have tried.  I like coconut as an ingredient in body care, the fragrance however is not is not my favourite but I am of the opinion that the benefits outweigh the smell.  I don’t drink coffee and I don’t like the smell of it and I have never heard of a coconut latte so I opened the 50ml tub with some trepidation.

When you put your nose in the tub, you definitely get coconut but for me no coffee which is good.   It smells like a coconutty version of cocoa butter, which is also good as I don’t like the smell of cocoa butter but this product smells ok.

For me 50 ml of cream is the perfect handbag size.  The lid of the plastic tub screws on, so it would be quite secure in the bottom of a bag.  However, for a body product, 50ml does not last very long at all.  Despite being labelled as a butter, this has the texture of a cream. If it were packaged in a tube rather than a tub it would be squeezed out very easily.

This product does not have a huge amount of slip.  It is easily worked into the skin and the initial sheen on the skin is gone within approximately ten minutes.  In terms of the oaque tights test, my skin was good for five hours and then returned to it’s usual dry state.

So, having used the product a couple of times, and found it to be just ‘meh’ rather then good or really good, I decided to investigate what the ingredients were.  As often happens when you buy a product without researching it first, I was surprised by what I saw.  This is a mineral oil based product – the fact that it has shea butter and avocado oil and honey is moot as the third ingredient on the list is mineral oil after water and glycerin.

It this butter had been good or really good, I would have been disappointed but as it was just ‘meh’, I donated it to the lotions and potions stash in the toilets at my office.  (waste not want not and all that!).

If you are not bothered by mineral oil and you skin is not very dry, this might be a good product for you, but if you have crocodile skin like I do and feel that there are other ingredients that are more effective at tackling dry skin then mineral oil (as I do) this is not a product for you.
