Combating Dry Skin: Crabtree and Evelyn Pomegranate Skin Quenching Body Lotion

Crabtree and Evelyn Pomegranate

Look what  Santa brought me… yes I know Christmas was months ago but the packaging was sooo pretty that I did not want to break it open until we saw a bit of sun…

So, when it got to April I could not resist any longer. The illustration on the box is replicated on the bottle.  The box is a delicate duck eye blue but inside the box it replicates the orange red that the pomegranate is depicted on. Crabtree and Evelyn Pomegranate 1

The illustrations remind me of the pictures from botany books which show the Latin genus and species and then the drawing that accompanies it shows the fruit and the seed.

The fragrance is initially very sweet, more sweet than floral, then it dries down a little and the floral notes come through.  Sadly, I have never smelt pomegranate blossom so I can’t say whether the fragrance is authentic, but I never think of pomegranates as very sweet.

Crabtree and Evelyn Pomegranate 2This product has some great ingredients, sweet almond oil, coconut oil, shea butter, glycerin, grape seed oil, argan oil, pistachio seed oil, ginger root and sesame seed oil. the texture is quite thick, you can definitely identify the glycerine in the mix.

Sadly this product has mineral oil in it which means that when I use it on my body, it leaves my skin dry.  I currently use it as a barrier hand cream before doing housework and washing up.  I just could not bear to donate it to the office loo as it is soooooo pretty and it smells so sweet.  I have to admit, it does help motivate the cleaning process by including a bit of beauty therapy in the process.  I apply, put on my rubber gloves, clean the kitchen or bathroom or whatever, then wash my hands and put on a mineral oil free product and carry on with my day.  I just don’t understand why Crabtree and Evelyn put mineral oil in it when they had so many other lovely ingredients.  Surely they could have bulked it out with a bit more sweet almond oil?  Sigh.
