Yes, I am reviewing a Christmas Candle in July… the hottest July for some time.
So, let me explain. It is really hot at the moment, but I am still enjoying candles. However, it is too hot for anything heady and I really cannot face a white floral. So, I was digging around in the beauty cupboard for something to cut the heat and I came across this Yankee Candle Balsam and Cedar humungous jar of evergreen green-ness
Firstly the jar is ginormous. Housewarmer jars have eighty five hours of burntime. When you find a fragrance you are a fan of, a Yankee candle it is definitely worth the purchase because you will be able to enjoy it for many many hours. This is a double wick candle and the colour is the deepest green. With a slightly marbled effect so it kind of draws you in. The lid has a rubber seal so it completely seals the container meaning you can use the candle then put it away for a while and come back to it in the knowledge that the fragrance has not diminished at all. Big bonus.
The smell – It smells like woodland, not enough eucalyptus/camphor in the blend to make is smell like Christmas trees but it has a woody greenness in the scent which actually makes it a perfect summer candle as it is a bold fragrance but not heady. I have been able to burn this for hours at a time without getting a headache. It is not floral at all but there is a sweet element. As it is a bold fragrance I have not considered cocktailing it with any other candles. It is enough by itself. I can almost imagine a cool breeze…. can you?
