It is a big claim to put ‘miracle’ in the title of a product, which was why I picked it up. I have been using it for several months and felt ready to provide a comprehensive review… only to find that Nude have now changed their packaging and the formula the formula of this mask. I’m posting this review anyway, you may still find this version of the miracle mask online and in stores.
The packaging is very understated. Purplely-greige in colour, moulded plastic that is very smooth to the top and a slightly rounded rectangular shape means that it stands solidly upright in the bathroom. The instructions on the back are tiny but the expiry date on the bottom of the tube is in a larger font and marked clearly. the down side of the packaging is that you have absolutely no idea when you are going to run out of product because there packaging is opaque, which after you have been using it for a couple of months is quite disconcerting.
Nude is a vegan skincare range so there are no parabens, sulphates, mineral oils, silicones, phthalates, or synthetic fragrances or colours in the range which for me is a positive thing. One of the key ingredients in the range is a probiotic which Nude say optimises cellular activity in the cell which results in the cell producing hyaluronic acid, collagen and antioxidants. Production of these entities reduces with age hence the anti-ageing moniker to the range.
The Miracle Mask is an exfoliating mask. It contains natural milk AHA, mandarin extract and ginseng. Nude warn that the skin may tingle but I did not find that to be the case… but my tolerance of tingling has improved significantly since I have used P50.
The product is a light orangey brown colour, (I love skincare products that are not Dulux white) it comes out of the pump like a gel and becomes a very thin gel as it is spread across the face become transparent. The smell is medicinal and to be frank not very pleasant. It is not acrid, or acidic, it does not get you in the back of the nose or make your eyes water but if you want a floral, citrusy or sweet smelling mask, this is not it.
The product is left on the skin for five minutes which makes it efficient in terms of time. It leaves a thin taut layer on the skin, it does not crack, but if you can hold off chatting on the phone for five minutes that is good.
To be honest, I did not notice a great difference on my skin. It has maintained my skin in what ever condition, so if my skin was not at it’s best, I did not find that it was miraculous transformed by this product…. but it did not make my skin any worse, and as part of a mud, exfoliating, hydrating mask routine it was an efficient middle part. There wasn’t a brightening or a radiance to my skin, it just looked clean and I found that if I had a spot, it did not make as much impact on it as my mud mask.
Nude’s new mask is in a tube, which means that you will be able to know when you are near the end of the tube, but the formula has changed. It now contains rice beads so it has brought in a manual exfoliation element which is a turn off for me.
