Photopost: August Empties

August 2013 Empties

I’ve not done an empties post before and to be honest, I am not sure that I will do one again.  Holding on to empty containers is no fun for me and I did not realise how many products I would get through.  Interestingly there is no hair or nail care in the bag – anyway, for the record, I did not start using all these products in August, but this bulging plastic bag contains my empties for the month.  Yes, really.

AveneAvene Eau Thermale is a water spray.  I mainly used with my Black Opal foundation but also in the hot weather just to cool down.  I did like it but I won’t be buying a thermal water again.

Make Up

Black Opal Foundation I have loved this Black Opal Stick Foundation and am going to be a bit lost without it. It was my first stick foundation and definitely opened my eyes to their versatility.  You can find my review here. I will definitely but this product again but I have not replaced it immediately as I have several sample liquid foundations that I need to get through first.  I also want to trial some other stick foundations to see what else is out there.

Becca and Fashion Fair I bought the Becca Concealer at the inaugural Keziah Connections event and have used it consistently since then time.  It comes with a skin side and an under eye side although to be honest, I could not tell a difference in texture.  I have replaced it with this Fashion Fair tri-colour concealer.  I’ll post my review of the Becca concealer shortly.

Benefit and Revitalash The Benefits Mascara was a magazine freebie which I reviewed here. I liked the formulation but the brush was prickly so I won’t be buying it again.  I am currently using the Revitalash primer and mascara.  I’m loving the primer, mascara is just ‘meh’ but will post a full review towards the end of the month.

Face Products. Facial Cleansers So, the empty is the Decleor Aroma White Foaming Cleanser. I love it. I know!  A whitening foaming cleanser!  Me!  But I can explain, and I will…in the blog post.  It has been replaced by the Vitage Revitalising Daily Cleanse which is not foaming, not whitening and also very good.

Skin Truffle and Clarins I had mixed feelings about the Skin Truffle moisturiser, have a look at my thoughts here.  I’ve replaced it with the Clarins Hydra Quench which is for dry skin, but I think it will work well with the changing seasons.

Caudalie and Liz Earle I love the Beauty Elixir. This was my second or third bottle and have replaced it with a small bottle of Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic (one of my top three toners)which I am carrying in my bag for my midday and mid afternoon spritzes. I’ve reviewed both of these products on the blog already – check here and here.

Hydraluron and ProlageneHydraluron transformed my skin.  I have got another tube in my beauty stash but I have rediscovered my love of Prolagene Gel.  I’m using it head to toe and will definitely review this soon.

Eyesilix and StrivectinEyesilix is another winner from Indeed Labs, but it has been replaced with the Eye Concentrate from StriVectin.

Sun ProtectionsHampton Sun is a great face and body SPF that does not leave a white cast on brown skin.  I have not had a holiday this year so I have used been using is over my skincare and under my make up.  Now that it has finished, I am using the Vitage Skin Defence SPF 30.  Another great product from this British Brand.

Body Products

Ruby Red and Bodhi For much of August I shared the shower with these two great British Brands.  Ruby Red and Bodhi, both of which I have already reviewed.  In the picture below, you can see, what I have replaced them with.  L’Occitane Shower Oil (yes that is the Supersize) and Balance Me’s Toning Shower Gel which was free with a magazine.

Loccitane and balance me I love a body exfoliator and was very happy with the Tia and Anda Brown Sugar scrub… while I am waiting for them to finalise their refill service, I will be using the Elemis Lime and Ginger Salt Glow.

Tia and Anda and Elemis I love my body moisturisers as you can see…Mimi’s Miracle is missing from the pic but you can find my reviews of the Jao, Bodhi, Elemis, Bandale, and Tia and Anda products on the blog.

Body lotions I have replaced this grouping with …This Works Really Rich Lotion, which has been discontinued and the Tia and Anda sole food, which was designed for the feet, but I am using all over the body.

This works and Tia and Anda Fragrance

Loccitane, Caudalie and Narscico Rodriguez The Caudalie Eau de Vigne fragrance is the one that I carried with me everywhere I went during the summer – citrus with depth.  However,  L’Occitane’s Verbena Eau de Toilette is a very citrusy, lemonade fragrance which blends perfectly with the Caudalie but I also use on bed linen and towels when temperatures go past twenty five.  I’ve replaced it with one of my all time favourite fragrances.  Narcisco Rodriguez for Her.  A modern classic. So, there you have it – over twenty empties in one month and a heads up of some of the reviews that I will be posting this month.
