Pucker Up: Face Facts Lipfacts Lipstick in Ivory Frost (071)

Ivory Frost from FaceFacts

One of the goodies from the Lypsso.com launch party a few weeks back was the Ivory Frost lipstick from Face Facts.  This is an American range of natural lipsticks and lip liners which are dermatologically tested, not tested on animals, recyclable and the manufacturing  process incorporates wind power.

The packaging is a vibrant burgundy with a gold accent.  The lid is slightly tapered, and the overall look and feel of the bullet is pretty high end which I really like.  The box is not at all congruent with the bullet in my opinion, but the logo, a woman with a ponytail in profile which is in green on the box is replicated in gold on the lid of the lipstick.  The box all gives all the ingredients in.  The base of this lipstick is organic castor seed oil, with organic beeswax and carnuaba wax, candelilla wax, and shea butter.  All great skin loving, moisturising ingredients. There is ylang ylang in this lipstick but you really have to put your nose to the bullet to smell it and when you apply it to the lips you cant smell it at all.

The texture is interesting.  It does not really glide across the lips so you have to build up the colour, which brings us to the colour –  it is quite a tricky colour.  Ivory Frost is an iridescent silver.  If you follow me on Instagram, (@patentpurplelife) you have already seen this picture…

I know that the idea of this colour is to blend it with other colours to either customise the colour or to highlight the centre of the mouth and I have tried this too but I have not been able to make this work.  I find that it just lifts up any base colour that you have applied to the lips so you need to apply with a brush but even then it does not quite work.

A  highly pigmented cruelty and nasty free lipstick is definitely something that I am interested but this colour just did not work for me.
