Over the weekend I had a very delicious Christmas dinner with a group of friends who enjoy eating out as much as I do. We are all fans of Hotel Chocolat so when Rabot 1745 (the restaurant is the brainchild of one of the founders or Hotel Chocolat) was mentioned, we did not take any convincing to make the reservation.
Located in the ever changing Borough Market, Rabot 1745 is a 2 storey venue, bar on the ground floor with restaurant above. This is a place that takes their cacao very seriously.
They even have cacao handwash and reed diffusers in the toilets!
The staff are very knowledgeable are there chocolate nibs everywhere which gives you an idea of how chocolaty the menu is going to be.
We started with a few cocktails…
If you are a rum fan, they have a pretty good selection.
This really is a gourmand chocolate experience, so if you are expecting Galaxy covered everything, you are in the wrong place. If the idea of white chocolate mash intrigues you, (it was absolutely delicious) this could very well be the place for you.
Scallop salad…. with chocolate nibs .
Cacao pasta filled with spinach ricotta mushroom and roasted cocoa.
Trio of chocolate mousses.
The cocktails were lovely, the food was delicious and I did not find the cacao overpowering in my dishes. I will definitely be returning to Rabot 1745.
