This was from the February Wantable Box. Beauty for Real is a north American brand and they don’t ship to the UK so I appreciated the opportunity to receive this product.
Beauty for Real was created by Leslie Munsell. A veteran of the beauty industry who learnt her trade with Aveda. The ethos of the brand is definitely based in real, smart effective products with realistic prices for real women.
The packaging of the products is important for the brand. The lip cream has an LED light in the lid which you activate by depressing a large squidgy plastic ball on the lid of the lip cream. I know that other brands also have this feature but this is the first lip product that I have owned which has this feature and the novelty has not yet worn off for me.
There is also a mirror on the side of the tube. A great idea but in reality, I can only see one lip clearly at any one time.
As you can see, the light is very very bright and application is with a doe foot rather then a brush (Hurrah).
So lets talk about the colour. Beauty for Real describe the colour as ‘creamy plum rose’ but on me, the purple does not register at all and it is sadly the exact shade of brown pink that does not suit me. I have posted a picture on instagram and the shade looks much better in the picture then in real life where it gives me a slightly deranged look. Disappointing. Especially because I like the formula of this product. It is a thicker texture then the Hourglass Liquid Lipstick and the finish is not as matte. I decided to have a play with it and found that it works perfectly with Brick lip liner from MAC. The red lip liner turns it into a gorgeous red brown colour that is easy to wear (not super in your face) and long lasting due to the lip liner and the formula of the lip cream which means that it has been saved from the makeup graveyard!
