Crowning Glory: Invisibobble

Invisibobble

The product has changed my ponytail life. Yes really.  I have waist length locs which means that my ponytail is more then three inches in circumference and my top bun is the size of a small childs head (no word of a lie).  For this reason I have been using ribbons and material to secure my hair on top of my head because conventional hair band just can’t cut it when faced with so much hair. They snap or wear very quickly and I have tried everything from the one pound shop, local hair supply shops, supermarkets and department store.

Invisibobble

The Invisibobble is a hairband that looks like the cord from an old fashioned telephone (the type where the handset was attached to the base unit – a common occurrence in homes and offices before hands free became the norm!).   It is a very smooth plastic which means that no part of it will catch on the hair in your ponytail.    There is science behind the design (the Invisibobble was designed in Germany and is made in China.  According to the website the curly telephone wire form means that pressure is distributed evenly across the ponytail and not just at one point (which causes pressure and a painful ponytail).  It is also water repellent which means that if you wear the Invisibobble in your hair when you shower, you are not going to cause it to degrade (as rubber bands do).

Invisibobble

There is also some element of memory in the plastic.  If you wear it in your hair and then take it out it will be bigger then the box that it originally came it but give it a few hours and it returns to it’s original shape.  Another feature that normal head bands don’t have and a benefit for this Invisibobble as  you are encouraged to wear it on your wrist as a bracelet.

Invisibobble

I was introduced to this product by the team at B Public Relations where it was enthused about profusely.   That is their job so I took it with a pinch of salt, took the product home and decided to give it a Patent Purple Life test.  The In My Hair For Thirty Six Hours Test.  I tested the product by wearing a high side ponytail from 7am to 7pm the following day.  After doing household chores and running errands in the morning  I did a three hour drive in a small hot car with three other people in it and intermittent traffic.  I slept in that ponytail, work up the following day, showered and spent a day sightseeing and had a nap, before  taking it down.   Not because my head hurt but because I wanted to sport a different style of dinner.  It could have stayed in longer.  You know how some ponytails shift during the course of the day?  That did not happen.   When I took it down, I did  not have a headache, my scalp did not hurt, my hair did not hurt, there was not an indentation from the invisibobble in my hair.  Prior to the thirty six hour test, I had used the Invisibobble for ponytails, buns, bunches and as part of an intricate up do.  The Invisibobble is fab and the fact that you get three in a box means that you can have one in the car, one on your wrist and one at home.

Invisibobble

Invisibobble is available from a variety of online retailers priced at approximately five pounds for three.  Invisibobble is a ponytail game changer and definitely worth giving a try.
