Crowning Glory: Curly By Nature

Curly By Nature

Curly By Nature

This brand has been on my radar since the Woman in the Jungle Show last year.  At the time they only had samples so in less then a year the brand has really developed in terms of brand and products.  I love the ethos for this brand, it is for people that are genetically curly, regardless of your race, if you have naturally curly or textured hair this is for you.  I was very lucky to receive a sample of the whole range and I have waited to do the review until I had nearly used up the products so that I could give a considered review

Moisture Shampoo

This is my hero product from the range.  The surfactants in this product are palm oil and coconut oil based so it does a good job of  cleaning the hair and clearing any build up but does not strip the hair.  It is squeaky clean hair without the squeak.  As well as the ylang ylang essential oil (stimulates hair follicles) which features across the range, the shampoo also has honey  (antibacterial and humectant) and panthenol (humectant and moisturiser) .  Big thanks to CurlybyNature for sending me two hundred millilitres cos I have alot of hair.

Intensive conditioning mask

The ingredients in the product are amazing – avocado oil, pumpkin seed oil plant keratin, grapeseed oil, shea butter more panthenol however the  texture of this mask it is not my preferred texture for my locs.  In terms of hydration, it was ok not great for me.

Nourishing Gloss Balm.

I love the bright yellow colour.  It is the strongest ylang ylang fragranced product from the range. I  used it to retwist my locs and it worked quite well, but I mainly used it as a finishing product for my edges when wearing a high bun.  I also used it on the mister’s scalp after shaving his head.  It left his scalp moisturised by not super shiny.

Hair Repair Oil

After the shampoo this is my favourite from the range, great for a post shampoo scalp massage but my favourite way to use it is as a pre wash hot oil treatment. It is a kukui and macademia nut oil base, with added hair loving oils including grapeseed, rose hip caster oils and a generous helping of ylang ylang.   If the Nourishing Gloss Balm is to thick, then the hair oil is a good option.

Overall I am impressed with the range.  The products do what they say on the tin and it is lovely to have a range the does not smell like bubblegum where the products are named after food .As the range develops, it would be great to see an unscented versions of the products.  Another #femaleentrepreneur Klerissa McDonald utilising her knowledge as a natural hair specialist to provide a high quality range of hair care.
