Caudalie: Divine Oil, Divine Candle and Crushed Cabernet Scrub

Caudalie Divine Collection

Caudalie Divine Collection

This Caudalie gift pack is great value and provided me with the chance to try the much hyped Divine Oil, and the Bougie Parfumee Scented Candle and the Crushed Cabernet scrub.

Caudalie Bougie Parfumee Candle

I have been really enjoying this night time routine.  Starting with the candle, which smells like the Divine Oil.  I’m not sure which came first but it is a signature fragrance for the range.  I love this scent as a room  fragrance so much that I bought the full sized candle.   It has Moroccan and Bulgarian rose countered by grapefruit with cedar, vanilla and musk.  The fragrance is gentle and relaxing but refreshing at the same time.  This candle lives in my bathroom and I light it not only when I have a bath but for any extended facial / mani / pedi regime.

Next to be used in the bathroom is the Crushed Cabernet scrub.  Cabernet Sauvignon is one of my favourite red wine tipples but this product does not smell like my favourite glass of red.  This sugar scrub is made from a blend of honey, grape seed oil and carnauba wax.  The sugar is suspended in a cream rather then an oil formula which leaves the skin smooth and moisturised but not oily as salt based scrubs do.  The scrub is used as part of the slimming range of treatments in Caudalie Spas. With fifty grams it was not possible for me to see the slimming results but this is a lovely product to use, the sugar is not to large or to rough on the skin and if you don’t like the oil scrubs or are looking for something quite gentle, this is a good option.

And so, to the star of the trio.  Caudalie’s Divine Oil is a dry oil which means:-

a) it is applied with a spray (which I love) and

b) it is not sufficiently moisturising for my very dry skin.

The spray make it very convenient and easy, especially when it comes to moisturising your back as it is dispersed in quite a fine mist.  Divine Oil has a grape seed and sesame seed oil base.  Dry oils  are much thinner in texture then the base oils that they are blending from.  This is because they are often blended with silicones or other  compounds thin the oil but which also form an occlusive layer which is why they are not sufficiently hydrating for me.  The bottle is similar to the Zeste de Vignes fragrance which I reviewed here.  It is very comfortable to hold and has the grapes embossed into the glass and the wood effect lid complements that amber coloured glass nicely.

This has quite a strong fragrance on the body – compared to when it is in the candle as a room fragrance.   I find that it stays on the skin for a couple of hours which is part of the reason what I am loving it as part of my bedtime routine.  The fact that this oil does not really hydrate my skin is disappointing as I am a fan of the brand.
