Some brands have just one cleanser that they claim deals with all the ills that your skin faces – other have cleansers not only of different textures but also for different skin types. Merumaya have a two step cleansing system and two cleansers in the range.
The Melting Cleansing Balm is serves a dual purpose. For people like me who wear make up it is a make up remover (although I like to use a micellar to take off the majority of my slap before heading to a cleanser). It is also a lovely way regardless of whether you wear make up to clean the face. Great for facial massage and a really deep cleanse. Regular readers of the blog know that I am a fan of a cleansing balm and this is a good one. The tube means that you don’t have to dig your fingers into the tub so it is more hygienic. The tube also means that you don’t need to melt the product in your hands as it already has a looser texture. You can either remove the balm with a flannel or rinse it off. The echium and mangosteen in the formula are antioxidants so you are doing your skin good even when cleansing. It is a beautiful texture that belies the practicality of the packaging. For your double cleanse you can either repeat the process or use the other cleanser in the range.
The Luxury Facial Wash is a wash off cleanser so it is great for morning to be used in the shower or over the basin. It shares the clean cotton type fragrance of the Melting Cleansing Balm. The loose gel is applied to a damp face and massaged into the skin. It does foam, creating small dense bubble but foaming agent is coconut based rather then sodium lauryl or laureth sulphate. When used after the cleansing balm my skin does not feel stripped at all. When I use it in the mornings, my skin does not feel taut but I ensure that I get toner and serum onto the skin quickly. The cleanser has gentle exfoliating activity from the pomegranate as well as a patented compound called AC.NET. This compound helps to control sebum production, redness, bacterial growth and inflammation associated with break outs and spots. I use the Luxurious Face Wash more in the evenings then the morning as my skin doesn’t always want need the anti breakout activity in the day.
