The Beautiful Color Collection is a beautiful edit of colour cosmetics that are part of the Untold fragrance sub-range from Elizabeth Arden. It is a pretty yet practical range with a great (yes it includes purples) selection of colours that will suit all skintones.
Beautiful Color Eyeshadow Quads (£26.00)
I am a fan of an eyeshadow quad but there is often one colour of the four that is an outlier in terms of shade and or texture. There are two quads in the Untold Colour Collection – Chic Browns or Posh Purples. If you are looking for a neutral palette that does not contain 50 shades of brown, Chic Browns is the palette for you. Four shades that are very complimentary and quite neutral. If you are purple obsessed like me – Posh Purples is a no brainer. Interestingly Arden have popped a matte brown into the purple quad which is genius. It mean that people who like purple but are not obsessed by it like me don’t feel overwhelmed. You can put purple all over the lid, or you can use it to intensify the crease and outer V. Both quads have a glitter, two shimmers and a matte shade.
The quad is housed in a white compact with the gold diamond embossed design that features on the Untold Fragrance bottles. This differentiates it from other quads from Elizabeth Arden which are normally in a gold compact. The quad opens to a full one hundred and eighty degrees and in the mirror I can see two thirds of my round like a plate face. In terms of doing your eye make up you can see both eyes in the mirror so you can do your make up on the go.
Beautiful Colour Luminous Lip Glosses (£17.00)
Arden have kept to the two colour theme so these lovely glosses are available in Glamorous Gold or Intriguing Violet. As you know, I am more of a lippie then a gloss wearer but the colours are very pretty. The texture is smooth but not sticky and it does not deposit alot of colour on my pigmented lips so I have been wearing it over lip liner to give it more depth.
Natural Eye Brow Pencil (£17.00)
It has a spoolie at one end (hurrrah) that really grabs your eyebrow hairs. Great if like me you have gaps in your brows. It is quite a narrow spoolie which is great as you can get to each and very short hair. I have been using shade 003 Brownette which I though was going to be too light for my brows but has done a great job of giving me a natural brow. You can get a deeper colour by increasing the pressure with which you apply the pencil. I would go to a deeper shade for an evening out to get a more dramatic brow but for a daily look this is perfect. The texture is quite stiff but it does not drag the skin and it is retractable. A really well designed beauty essential.
Beautiful Colour Smoky Eye Pencil (£16.50)
If you like to create your smoky eye with a pencil base and then put your eyeshadow over the top. you need this product. If you like to create your liner looks using a pencil base and a liquid or gel liner over the top, this product is for you and if you like a rock and roll type smudgy eye look. This pencil is also for you. It is the next generation of a kohl pencil, with a soft texture but not as soft as some pencil gel type liners that I have used so you don’t need to keep it in the fridge or worry about it breaking if you over sharpen it.
The smudger on it is really soft so you are not dragging the skin at all. You can just soften the line you draw keeping the intensity at the lashes which is what I love to do or you can create a wash of colour. A very versatile pencil and one for people who don’t want a retractable brush. Available in black brown grey and other colours but I have been wearing shade 11 Black Violet which is deep blue on my skin tone. I love my black eyeliner and will never stop wearing it but this is a brilliant alternative as the depth of colour is there. I found that it lasted approximately nine hours on my skin without an eyelid primer or over a cream eyeshadow. Over a shadow or lid primer the colour lasted longer. This colour does not set like a gel so not suitable if you rub your eyes.
Beautiful Colour Precision Glide Eye Liner (£17.00)
This pencil has more of a gel type formula. It is very very smooth on the skin and the colour that is deposited has a shiny almost iridescent finish as opposed to the smoky eye pencil. It is quite a wide lead for a retractable pencil so it is great to have sharpener with it. There is a smudger with this pencil which has a different shape and texture from the smoky pencil and as this has more of a gel formulation, you get about fifteen seconds before it dries. The colour is much more intense than the smoky liner because of the finish and I tend to use this pencil to create graphic liner looks as well as for the waterline. I have been wearing the Blackberry which is a beautiful purple shade. This is a long wear formula – it stays on till you take it off. Love it.
