You know those days when you go to your local Boots or Superdrug in a bit of a panic because you are heading out somewhere and in your make up bag is everything but your mascara. You are kicking yourself internally because you know that in your beauty cupboard there are about seven new mascaras but you you have just created the most perfect graphic liner look and you NEED mascara. Do you know what I mean? You do? Well that was me a few months ago when I picked up Rimmel’s Extra Super Lash.
The reason I picked it up was because it was cheaper then my favourite mass market mascara – Maybelline Falsies, which I discovered under similar circumstances. Sadly I do not love Extra Super Lash. It has been in my make up bag for the last three months and only been used about five times. As much as I try to force myself to use it I just cant get on with it.
Rimmel describe this mascara as a lash building mascara, which is fine… except it takes four coats before I get an approximation of the lashes that I want. The brush has a Christmas tree shape and is quite short which is good for me which my short straight lashes. I can get to the base without messing up my mascara too much and if i choose to use it on my lower lashes it is easily done with the top of the wand. The formula is quite thick so as you build up your lashes they go clumpy but on the plus side, it is quite a dark black colour. It leaves the lashes quite flexible and the mascara is very easy to remove but I do not get the length that I want, no curl and very little volume.
I am in the midst of my beauty spending ban and I am working steadily through my stash. This mascara just didn’t work for me so I’ve binned it.
