#cleanseaholic – Dior Instant Gentle Cleansing Oil

Dior Instant Gentle Cleansing Oil

Now that I have become a devotee of a cleansing oil, it feels like every brand is doing them and in keeping with #cleanseaholic tendencies I am determined to try as many as possible.

Dior Instant Gentle Cleansing Oil

Dior is a brand that I have never previously bought skincare from but I figured the cleansing oil was as good a place as any to start. Despite being called the Dior Instant Gentle Cleansing Oil, if you look on the ingredients list there isn’t a plant oil that you would recognise. There are a number of chemical names which indicate that this product contains many glycerin derivatives.  Glycerin can be synthetic, plant or animal derived but it is not an ‘oil’ in cold pressed from a plant sense that I expect a cleansing oil to be.  This is a mineral oil free cleanser (which means it gets a big tick from me). In chemical terms it is not accurate for Dior to describe the product in this way .  They are clearing jumping onto the popularity of cleansing oils.  The shame of it is – this is a good product in its own right.  It really does not need to pretend to be something that it is not. ‘Instant Gentle Cleanser’ would have been a perfectly honest and acceptable name for this product.

Despite the marketing folly, I am enjoying using this product.  It is great at removing make up including most  mascaras.  Apply it onto dry skin and massage away, then remove with a damp flannel.  It get rid of everything in the first go but as I am enjoying using the product I go in for a second time just for fun.  I either then follow it with a  facial wash or go straight in with the toner.  After the use the skin is left clean, but not squeaky clean.  I have been make up free the day before I sometimes use it as my morning cleanser but it is most effective in my regime as a make up remover.

The texture of this ‘cleansing oil’ is light.  Lighter than for example Antonia Burrell cleansing oil and it has plenty of slip.  The lily fragrance is in my opinion subtle and lovely.  I am really disappointed that the product does not contain oil as advertised but this is a great make up remover which is really gentle on the skin.
