New Launch: Ciate Colour Cosmetics

Ciate Liquid Chrome (Celestial)

Nail brand Ciate have moved into colour cosmetics this year.  With products for eyes lips and cheeks they have created a range of colours and textures which like their nail colours are trend led.  I have had a chance to play with three of the eye products from the range.

Cooling Eyeshadow  Slick (Daiquiri)

Ciate Cooling Eyeshadow Slick Daquiri

This is a cream shadow that is cool to the skin application.   The texture is very shimmery.  It is not glittery – it catches the light beautifully.  It provides a very very thin layer of colour which can be applied with the fingers or with a brush.  Personally I found that a dense eyeshadow brush was the best way to apply it.  Application was much sheerer with fingers and the daiquiri colour was not as intense as I had hoped.  I have a friend with very pale skin and the intensity of colour was great on her.

For me to get that look, I needed to apply two coats to get the depth of colour that I wanted.  Luckily two coats apply very evenly – the colour does not roll and the intensity was much brighter. The colour does not crease if you use an eyeshadow primer first and wear is approximately six hours plus, without the primer, it did not last on my lids past a couple of hours. Using the Double Lines Kajal as a base (see below) makes the colour cooler and well as lasting longer.   daiquiri  is a pale rose gold on my skintone which is pretty but I really wanted more rose in the colour.  I like the packaging – it is not messy if you apply it with a brush.  The Cooling Eyeshadow Stick retails for fifteen pounds, which I think is a little expensive since I have to apply two layers to get the colour intensity I want.

Liquid Chrome (Celestial)

Ciate Liquid Chrome Celestial

A metallic purple eyeliner – what’s not to love?  The colour is lovely, however the packaging or more specifically the brush is pants.   When I first used the brush, I found it to be stiff and inflexible.  As I continued to use the product, the brush did soften slightly but it the line was thicker then I would like.

Ciate Liquid Chrome Celestial

As much as I like a graphic liner look, I generally prefer a perfect thin line when I am using a purple eyeliner.  In a liquid eyeliner the brush is everything. It determines the type of line and ease of application.  If the brush does not worth the product (even if the colour is lovely and long lasting on the lids) is a fail and sadly that is the case here.  Another fifteen pound product which again I feel is a bit disappointing considering the brush.

Double Lines

Ciate Double Lines

This product consists of a skinny liquid (felt tip) liner which makes micro lining (very close to the lash line easy.  The colour is very black and it works perfectly in conjunction with the liquid chrome liner.

I have also done graphic looks with this line and it is easy to use.  The colour is long lasting and I don’t have a bad word to say about it.

The other end is a kajal liner. Think of this cone shaped product like a mega big pointy kohl chubby stick.  Beautiful on the waterline.  Easy to smudge on the lid for a smoky eye look.  This double ended liner deals with all of your liner needs in the one product.

Ciate Double Lines

This is by far my favourite product of the three I have tested.  It is worth the twenty pound price tag because each end of the product works really well in it’s own right.
