NYX: The Eyeshadows

NYX Eyeshadows Group Shot

NYX Eyeshadows Group Shot

Did you know that NYX are now available in Boots?  And Selfridges! Yes, really – anyway, this week, I am loving the NYX single shadows.  Available in a range of textures, a huge number of colours and of course, great prices.

NYX Baked Shadow – Cosmos (£6.99)

NYX Baked eyeshadow Cosmos

Baked shadows are everywhere and are generally a more buttery texture than this one.  Cosmos is quite powdery with a little bit of kick up.  This is a wet / dry formula that definitely benefits from being used wet.  Cosmos is a light green shade  with white gold glitter particles. Not really a shade that I would wear on my lids… but I have found it is a gorgeous way to mattify a lip colour without giving a green tinge as the shadow itself is quite sheer. If you get hold of this product  in a golden tone, it would make a great highlighter.

NYX Primal Colours – Hot Green (£6.99)

NYX Primal Colour Hot Green

The primal colours range are one of my favourite shadows from NYX.  These matte shadows are uber pigmented and are not strictly for the eye… although I hae been using them for that.  They described are a pressed pigment for face and body.  The colours are all prefixed with ‘HOT’ but the tone is quite neutral and in the yellow and pink shades almost neon.  Application is buildable and I would definitely recommend using a base under these colours.  If you are big on body painting, this is a range from NYX that you definitely need to investigate.

NYX Nude Matte – Maybe Later

NYX Nude Matte Maybe Later

This colour is gorgeous.   This shade does for me what  Bobbi Brown’s Bone for Caucasian eye lids. I can wear it from brow to lid to even out the skin tone on the lids.  It helps to camouflage stray hairs when I am overdue for threading and it the perfect base for any eye shadow look.  If you have a deep / rich skin tone like mine – you need this colour!

NYX Hot Singles   – Karma Sutra (purple) Money Maker (lime Green) Own the night (deep mauve)

NYX Money Maker Eyeshadow

Honey maker has a satin texture and does not have the softest texture of all the NYX shadows that I have tried.  It pulls quite yellow on  my skin and works beautifully with green and golden tones – even better when used wet.

NYX Own the Night Eyeshadow

This photo does not do the colour justice.  Own the night has fast become my go to transition colour.  This matte, deep mauve shades has a greige undertone, it goes with every single eye shadow look and blends out like a dream.

NYX Karma Sutra Eyeshadow

Beautiful delicious imperial purple shade with a satin finish and a softer texture then Honey maker.  I love it (obvs)

NYX Eyeshadow Swatches Dark Skin

NYX in the states are now selling single shadows are refills so you will have more flexibility with your eye shadows. Not sure when the refills will be hitting the UK but with the hot singles being 1.5 grams which is the same as a MAC shadow and their retail presence growing, NYX are one again providing that they are a viable option for make up artists and make up collectors.
