Sukin is Australia’s best selling natural skincare brand. Sukin started in 2007 and to this day remains a family owned and run brand. The range is free from sodium lauryl and laureth sulphates, synthetic fragrance, animal derivatives, harsh detergents, propylene glycol, artificial colours, triethalolamine, mineral oils EDTA and parabens. Sukin also pride themselves on being carbon neutral, Australian made and vegan. There are approximately sixty products in the range but I have been using four regularly. The aloe vera, horsetail, nettle and in the cleanser, moisturiser and body lotion give the products a signature scent which is subtle with a hint of herbs.
Foaming Facial Cleanser
I find that foaming cleansers can leave my skin feeling taut and irritated which is why my preference is for cream and oil based cleansers. The Sukin Foaming Facial Cleanser does not contain sodium lauryl or laureth sulphates which are the detergents used in the majority of foaming face cleansers. This is not my favourite foaming cleanser ever, it does not have the refined texture of other products that I have used but it works well as a second cleanse. One pump is too much, half a pump is more than enough for my round face.
Facial Moisturiser
Despite the light texture this moisturiser is more nourishing that it appears to be. Good for a drier skin type and during the colder months – it takes a while to settle on the skin but it is a good base for makeup.
Certified Organic Rosehip Oil
In my opinion the Organic Rose Hip Oil is the hero product from the range. Rich in beta carotene, omega six and minerals, I use it to amplify every single Sukin product that I own. It makes the foaming cleanser richer, more like a cleansing lotion. The moisturiser is transformed into more of a treatment product that I can take down the neck to under the bust. The body lotion which is not rich enough for my crocodile dry skin on my body on it’s own but a generous helping of the rose hip oil and my skin stays moisturised for hours.
Sukin Hydrating Body Lotion
The high water content of this lotion means that it is not nourishing enough for my very dry skin. For me, it works well as a hand cream in fact it is a good cream for the office as it has a matte finish so you wont leave smears on your keyboard or your paperwork.
If your skin does not really have any issues and you are looking for an affordable free from range, Sukin is good option. If you like to customise your products, the rosehip oil is really useful. This is a great option for teen skins and the range is very unisex so it is one for the family medicine cabinet.
