The Estee Lauder Pure Colour Eny Liquid Lip Potion in Savage Garden is the dark horse of the purple liquid lipstick world.  It is not a liquid lipstick in the Sephora lip stain sense of the word. This is not a mousse formula that stays on your lips forever and a day and dries them out to within a inch of your life.  This is the evolution of the liquid lipstick and as surprising as it is that Estee Lauder is leading the charge I’m kinda glad that glamourous lip colour is back in the hands of this heritage brand.

The packaging is beautiful. Navy blue with Estee Lauder stamped on the lid.  I like the fact that you can see the colour of the product through a narrow window on the front of the tube.  It means that you know when you coming the end of the product which is always helpful.  There is a slight widening in the middle of the tube, it creates a slight curve which adds a bespoke and curvacous aesthetic. The Liquid Lip Potions definitely have the purse factor and I’m not sure whether it is as a result of my advancing years or the Kendall Jenner effect but I am looking at the brand with different eyes. these days.  I have never used an Estee lauder lip gloss product type thing but Savage Garden is a really good.

The doe foot applicator is slightly bent and a bit wider then the usual applicator so you cover a bit more of your mouth.  This formula does not dry to a matte finish, but at the same time it is not a glossy or vinyl product.  It has the sheen of  a standard lipstick.   It does wear well, leaving a light veil of the gorgeous purple colour but it does not stain and a full lunch will remove the product.

The colour is true  deep purple.  Huzzah!  The perfect blend of blue and red – a glorious neutral tone that I can wear it with all of my eyeshadow.  The formula is opaque so on my top lip one colour is needed and on my bottom lip I need two coats but it builds up to the exact same glorious deep purple shade.  No need for a lip pencil, just apply and go.

For me, this is like the perfect lip gloss.  Pigmented, smooth texture and of course an amazing colour.  At twenty pounds it is not the cheapest but I really like this formula.  Silicone based with a generous helping of sunflower seed, jojoba and avocado oils and a tiny helping of hyaluronic acid. I am not a huge lip gloss fan but this is the gloss by which all others will be judged.
