New palette time yaaaaaaaah! My first palette from American brand the Balm is Nude’tude. Nude palettes can no longer be considered a trend, they are definitely part of the make up norm and it is always interesting to see who brands interpret ‘nude’.
The palette comes with a sample of theBalm’s eyelid primer called Put A Lid On It (geddit!) which is a nice addition. The primer applies clear to the skin and helps the longevity but not the intensity of the shadows.
The palette is housed in cardboard and also comes with a double ended brush. The liner side looks like a standard angled liner brush but the shadow side is not fluffy or densely packed so it works as a liner which is a shame as a placement brush would have been ideal.
theBalm is known for their kitsch imagery and play on words. The palette has six ladies with the eyeshadows covering their boobs and bums. The palette has a range of textures (glitter, satin’s and matts) and each texture is soft and smooth to apply to the skin. They blend beautifully and there was no fall out when I applied them. Of the twelve shades it is only Sassy the shimmery white shade that I would not wear but the other shades are really wearable. The point of different from other nude / neutral palettes in my opinion is the shade Sexy which is a reddened burgundy brown shade. It blends beautifully with predominately warm tones in the palette and add interest to a brown smoky eye. My favourite shade (apart from Sexy ) is Selfish which is a gorgeous pewter tone. If you are looking for a face and eye palette, this also works out to be a good option. I have used sleek as a gentle contour, blended Seductive and Snobby for highlight.
Each eyeshadow is 0.9 gram so you have plenty of product but not an overwhelming amount so you will definitely hit pan if you use it regularly. If you are a nude palette obsessive, this is a good one, but if like me, brighter shades are more your bag, this palette wont feel out of place in your collection.
