Talon Tales: Orly – Charged Up

Orly Charged Up Swatch WoC

Orly Charged Up I have been seeing nail brand Orly in more and more Boots stores so I finally decided to try a colour from the brand.  Orly has been around for over forty years but this is another American  ‘drugstore’ brand that has not always been easy to get hold of in the UK.  Hurrah for Boots!  The brand  also claims to be the home of the French Manicure.  In 1975 it was first applied on the hands of actresses as it meant they could change outfit and not have to change their nail colour.

As with Mavala, the brand features small (just over five millilitres) of polish which is great if you are not a big polish person or if you just want to try lots of different shades.

Charged Up is a gorgeous cream purple shade.  The first coat is quite sheer so it definitely needs a second or third coat.  The short wand makes application easy and brush is not super wide but I can cover my nails in two to three strokes.  It is quite a thin formula (thinner than Mavala) and this standard formula does not have a very high shine finish.

If you are looking for a budget buy, Barry M is probably your best bet as you get more product for less money, but, Orly have a great range of colours so you will definitely find a colour that calls you.  If I had to choose between Mavala and Orly I would choose Mavala for the formula but Orly is a good brand and I will definitely be purchasing from the range again.
