The M&S beauty department has been a revelation and revolution on the high street. The brand that for me is synonymous with that department is Lola. It has been there from the beginning and in terms of colour products, it provides great pigment. I’m now waiting for the brand to increase their complexion shade range. I’ve reviewed the brand before, you can see my reviews here and here. Two years later thanks to the lovely team at Lola I am revisiting the brand with a bevvy of purple products.
Smudger Brush (£10.00)
This is a slightly larger pencil brush than others I have in my collection but that is not a bad thing. It is perfect for inner eye highlight and the tapered shape makes it perfect for providing definition in the crease.
Mono shadows (£10.00)
AsAs much as palettes are pretty, I am a fan of a mono shadow, Portable and a much better option when it is a shade that you are going to use regularly. You can apply it all over the lid or to intensify a look that you have created with a palette.
The Lola mono shadows are a good size (2.5 grams) and they come in a range of finishes. My favourite is the satin finish. The matte needs to be built up so I would recommend using a flat shader brush to get the colour pay off. They have a great range of colours so it is worth taking a look and picking up shades that work for your make up preferences.
The packaging is lovely and very sleek. It has the rubberised finished that you associate with NARS and it elevates the look of the brand from premium to mid price.
Ultra Shine Lipstick – Berry Crush (£12.00)
Berry Crush is a warm pink with micro-shimmer. The texture is very smooth – the microshimmer is not perceptible on the lips at all. This lippie is highly perfumed, but it dissipates quickly and the shine on the lips is not gloopy. Great over a lip pencil or liquid lipstick.
Lash Extension Mascara – Aubergine (£12.00)
This product caught my eye on the Lola Instagram page. I am in constant search of the perfect purple mascara. In fairness this is more burgundy than purple as it is much redder than blue but nonetheless this is a good product. To get the true colour you need two coats but then it lasts for ages. This formula is fabulous as it leaves your lashes soft not at all brittle or crispy. The brush is great at separating lashes. Absolutely no clumping so whilst it did not give me the length that I wanted it did give volume and curl to the lash. This is a great product to pair with another mascara. Either as a base coat or to tip the lashes.
Automatic Pencil – Purple (£10.00)
My pick of the selection. Gorgeous blue purple. Beautiful soft texture, and long lasting. It is a retractable pencil with sharpener. Great for the waterline and on the lid but one of my favourite ways to way this shade in on the lips. Love it.
