Glam Glow DreamDuo Overnight Transforming Treatment

Glamglow DreamDuo Overnight Treatment

You may be surprised at today’s review of the  GlamGlow DreamDuo Overnight Transforming Duo.  I recently slated (justifiably) the GlamGlow PowerMud .  However, in skincare one product does not necessarily define a brand.  So, I’ve delved into GlamGlow again, to see if PowerMud was an anomaly … or not!

Glamglow DreamDuo Overnight Treatment

DreamDuo is a two stage product.  The first phase DreamSerumis a pearlescent serum which is quite thick.  You apply it to clean dry skin and let it absorb before applying the second step.  First thing that popped into my head when I saw it was ‘why a pearlescent formula in a night product? but that’s just me.   There is no sting or tingle or burn (huzzah).  It is just a cooling thick serum filled with hyaluronic acid, cucumber, green tea, pomegranate and other skin loving ingredients.  The second phase DreamSeal is grey.  It looks like a mud mask but it is another serum.  You apply it over the top of the DreamSerum after about 30 seconds.  I don’t understand why the two products have the same texture but again – that’s just me!  DreamSerum and DreamSeal have many of the same ingredients.

The idea behind the product is that it will leave your skin ‘transformed’ (hydrated, dewy, nourished etc) in the morning.   The formulas are not tacky and they don’t pill over each other. When I use this product I wake up in the morning with hydrated skin and a slight residue on the skin.  There was no irritation.  I carried out my normal morning skincare routine again with no issues and went about my day.  However, I do not love this product. It is ok but I don’t think it is worth the $59 price tag.  Both products are dimethicone heavy which helps to provide the improvement in texture.  I don’t have a problem with silicones in my skincare but if you do, steer clear of this product.  The DreamSeal (the grey serum) does not make sense to me.  I expected it to have a heavier texture and it doesn’t.  I tend to use the DreamSerum on it’s own.  I have also used it in the day with a moisturiser over the top.  It is a good addition to the GlamGlow family as many of their products are intense and irritating (in my humble opinion).

I am a skincare junkie.  I spend time and money on my skin. As a result, I know that I can get the same or better effect on my skin from a variety of products at a range of price points.

A good hydrating moisturiser will give the same or in many cases an improved result.  If you are looking for a hydrating night cream I would recommend Crème de Nuit from Codage.  A phenomenal product that does not leave you greats and is only one step.  Repose from Temple Spa would be another recommendation and you can use it day or night.  Even when I just apply pure avocado or jojoba oil to my skin I can get a similar result.  If you have a good skincare routine you an get this same effect.  If you don’t have a good routine, add hyaluronic acid, and a hydrating overnight or sleep mask.

If you are not a skincare junkie and are looking for one product to give you glow and hydration to bely the fact that you have not had enough sleep or before a big event – you might like this. If you want a hydrating night cream – there are other products   Sorry GlamGlow.
