Glo & Ray: Rouge Stick Lip Pencil

Glo and Ray Rouge Sticks

Glo and Ray Rouge SticksLast month I told you about the eye pigments and spectacular orange red lipstick that Glo and Ray had launch.  This month I need to update you about their Rouge Sticks.  Available in nine shades and three textures the Rouge Sticks are an interesting take on a lip liner.

The Textures

I have love hate relationship with lip liners.  I love their precision and the matte effect on the lips.  I often wear a lip liner on it’s own if I want a matte look on the lips.  However,  the texture of a liip liner is often a problem because it is so dry.  Who wants to gouge their lips with a super hard pencil (MAC I am looking at you)!

Rouge Sticks are available in three textures:-

G – the lip gloss formula – these shades have a medium amount of pigment and a glossy finish

M – the pigmented formula – these shades have a matte finish

S  – the balm formula – these shades are the sheerest

The thing about these colours is that for me, they are not liners.  They are standalone lip colours.  I wear them all over the lip and they are beautiful  There is a colour and texture for everyone. Their size makes them perfect for on the go application and the shape of the nib means that you can get pretty precise application straight from the bullet.

Pigmented, with a gloss finish

G01 – Pinky red – I like it

G02 – Orange red – really pretty

G03 –  Orange – very wearable and registers as orange not red on pigmented lips.

I like all of the ‘G’ shades they are perfect for a wash of colour and dont need a mirror for application.  They last pretty well on the lips but need to be retouched after food

Pigmented with a matte finish

  • M01 – Pink – this is the only dodgy shade of the lot.  The colour is chalky on me and the application was patchy
  • M02 – Orange-brown – gorgeous orange brown colour, unusual and expensive looking
  • M03 – Berry with a purple undertone – YAAAAASSS!

These are my favourite of the three formulas.  They have a higher level of pigment but are not drying on the lips.

Sheer with a balm finish

  • S01 -Dusky pink
  • S02 – Pink
  • S03 – Red

My least favourite formala, the shades  are in my opinion the least flattering on my skintone.

Glo Ray Rouge Sticks Swatches

I am so impressed with these Rouge Sticks.  The packaginng is lovely, they are the perfect size for makeup bag but most importantly the colours are gorgeous.  At £9.90 you can find a shade that you love and wear it all the time.
