Purple Mono Eyeshadows from Fashion Designer Houses

6 Fashion Designer Mono Eyeshadows

Finally the world has caught up to the fact that a blue based purple is the best colour in the world!  Pantone colour of the year for 2018 is Ultra Violet. A gorgeous shade of purple which I love to slather all over my face. As a purple officianado I already have lots of purple in my collection.  In my experience, to get a true purple you are often better off getting a mono eyeshadow rather than a palette. Not sure why but these intense purple shades rarely show up in an eyeshadow quad or quint.

6 Fashion Designer Mono Eyeshadows For many  a mono eyeshadow is a waste of plastic packaging and fails to provide the transition, outer v or inner corner highlight that they desire.  I get it, I really do but when you have the perfect shade of purple , a packing brush and a blending brush, one shade really is all that you need.  I love just having a whole heap of purple on my eyelid.    The small size means if fits perfectly in my makeup bag – great for on the go.  the deep purple colour means that I can apply it all over the lid as a wash of colour or a liner or something in between.  The packaging means that they all have the purse factor and each shade is long wearing and unique in it’s own way.

This post features six purple mono eyeshadow offerings from fashion design houses.  Not all of them are worthy of the Ultra Violet crown, but they are all beautiful in their own right.

Burberry – Burberry Eye Colour in Mulberry (204)

The mirrored compact is adorned with a monochromatic version of their famous plaid and the compact is weighty. You get a hefty 2.7 grams of product along with a sponge tip applicator.  I would have much preferred a brush or no thing at all. Mulberry is not a blue based purple, it is a brown/plum shade which has a satin finish.  It is beautiful but not a blue based purple.  It is a perfect shade for  wash of colour but also completements proper purple shades.

Chanel – Ombre Premier  in Vibrant Violet (30)

The compact is not as weighty as the burberry compact.  You do however get a brush  as well as a sponge tip applictor (this time in white). Vibrant violet is a true violet shade.  Not as much blue as Ultra Violet it falls more on the pink spectrum but it is a bright violet tone.  much more of a statemetn on the lid.  2.2grams of product and huge purse factor with teh chanel logo on the top.

Dior  – DiorShow Mono in Power (994)

Power is a great name for a shadow and the colour is beautiful too.  This is nearly ultra violet. More blue than Vibrant Violet but not as blue as Ultra Violet or Caftan.  Power is sold with a doubled ended bruth/applicator which again I could do without.  This is a gorgoues statement shade with high sheen that works wet or dry.

Gucci – Gucci Eye Ultra Violet (150)

The prize for most accurant repreentation of the Pantone colour of the year shade ultra violet goes to Gucci.  A brand that I more associate with greens then purple Gucci have done a fabulous job. you get 2 grams of product with no applicator (fantastic).  This shade is true ultra violet.  Slight sheen in texture this is gorgeous and bright and vibrant.  Great job by the italian fashion house.

Tom Ford – High Rise (06)

The most recent addition to the Tom Ford shadow range is a set of single shadows in a range of shades and textures.  Another brand that decided to go wotihout the applicator and the cutest compact of all!

YSL – Couture Mono in Caftan (7)

A clost second in the race for ultra violet is Caftan from YSL.  Caftan is ever so slightly pinker than Ultra Violet but on the lid the difference would only be noticable to the hardcore purple fans.   Best packaging with applicators also goes go YSL.  The supplied brush and applictor clip into the lid of the compact.  You loose the mirror, but your applictors are secure.
