Oriflame is a Swedish beauty brand that retails directly to consumers via ‘consultants’ or now directly from their website. It is like Swedish Avon if you will.
A few of weeks ago I attended the launch of a new range of Oriflame cosmetics called The One. The Brand Ambassador Gary Cockerill and celebrity make up artist gave a masterclass at the launch using this range of products.
Colour Impact Cream Eyeshadow – Intense Plum
These cream eyeshadow are very highly pigmented and available in eight shades. No surprise that I have been using the plum. The texture is not waxy or creamy like a MAC Paint Pot – it has more of a talc feel which is similar to an eyeshadow primer. At the masterclass with Gary I discovered that the best way to use this product is to put a powder shadow underneath it. I found this very unusual as generally we are advised to put a powder over a cream. My chosen powder shade was Fig from MAC which is a perfect complement to the shade and after applying and blending, I used a flat brush to apply the cream shadow. This cream shadow is infused with tiny silver and gold particles which really catch the light. It lasted more then twelve hours without creasing. Very impressive.
Eye Liner Stylo – Black
I am a fan of liquid liner and this is a good one. Again really pigmented, it dries to an almost shiny finish. The nib has a very very fine point which is great for the inner corner of the eye but because the nib is quite long and saturated with liner along the length you can create cat eyes and graphic liner looks as well as defining the lash line with ease.
I really like the eyeliner and the cream eyeshadow however, this is not an inclusive beauty brand. They have six shades of foundation that don’t deviate from beige and whilst I have been assured that work is being done on increasing the shade range, these wont be available to purchase for at least eighteen months. It is disappointing that this global brand with a one hundred scientist strong research and development team does not cater for it’s global clientele.
