All four Laura Mercier illuminators are available for a limited period at in palette form – hurrah. The Fall In Love Palette is exclusively available from Space NK and provides people like me who have had their eye on the illuminators with the perfect opportunity to try all the shades. A full sized illuminator is nine grams of product and the palette is more than 13 grams. The gram for gram value is slightly better on the palette so if you see it in stores it is definitely worth picking up.
The palette is plastic. More robust than Makeup Revolution and more attractive with a subtle animal print on both the box and the compact itself. You don’t need to break a nail to open the compact as there is a lever to depress which opens the palette to approximately 110 degrees. The palette has a full sized mirror which I can comfortably see my whole face in. I’ve seen the packaging descried at chunky but I like it. It is robust. Highlighters are notoriously fragile so having thicker packaging means that if you do drop it they are less likely to break.
When you open the palette you are faced with four delicious looking illuminators. Don’t you think they look like a biscuit that has been decadently covered in chocolate? Just me then.
The illuminators are a baked gelee formula like the Victoria Beckham x Estee Laurder Modern Mercury highligher. When swatched with the fingers the product is very pigmented with visible shimmer particles. On the skin, application is smooth and depending on the brush used you can create a diffuse effect or full strobing.
There are four shades in the palette. Addiction, Devotion and Seduction were added to the permanent range earlier this year. Indiscretion was already a permanent product. Addiction is gold, Devotion is pink, Indiscretion is rose gold and Seduction is bronze. I wear all of the interchangably but if I were to buy one shade it would be Seduction – it is a must have for tan deep and dark skintones.
What You Need To Know About the Laura Mercier Illuminators
The shades are beautiful, and every skintone is catered for. They are called illuminators but they really aren’t. You cant wear this all over the face. They are highlighters with reflex but no fall out. They last all day on the skin and can be used on the eyes as well.
I I don’t normally suggest dupes but the Laura Geller illuminators have a nearly identical formula. If you are a highlighter fanatic this palette is a great investment. If you are someone that just wants one highlighter to use and use and use, the Laura Mercier illuminators are excellent. They give a visible glow and you prefer the baked gelee texture these are definitely worth considering.
