Can you believe that EcoTools is 10 years old? Seriously – doesn’t it feel like they have always been on the shelves?
EcoTools is an American brand created by two sisters. They take their commitment to minimising their carbon footprint seriously. I’m sure you think you have heard that before. The handles are made from recycled bamboo, the ferrule from aluminium and the bristles are made from a synthetic fibre. The packaging is also recyclable – yes even the plastic.

As part of the 10 anniversary celebrations the brand has had a mini revamp. The handles are a lighter shade of bamboo and have a smoother texture. The ferrule has moved away from the silver grey to a gun metal tone. The brand has also created lots of new brush sets. I’ve had a chance to test some of them across cream liquid and powder formulations and the brand is impressive. Keep reading to find out what’s new, why you should get your hands on it and how you can be in with a chance of winning a set.
Define and Highlight Duo (£11.99)
This has to be my favourite collection of them all. The Define brush is my preferred tulip shaped brush. It is perfect for blusher and bronzer and even works for powdering under the eyes if you like to bake. There are lots of bristles but they are not packed to densely in the ferrule so you can do precision and buffing in one action. I love it!
The highlight brush is a fan brush but it is not to thin. It picks up powder and gelee highlighters equally well. It is also brilliant for liquid highlighter as the shape means you don’t get a splodge in the middle of the face. You can really blend the product out. I’ve also used it for finishing and setting powders. It is really multi-purpose.
Glow For It (£17.99)
EcoTools are supporting Glamour’s The Girl Project with a selection of limited edition kits. The Girl Project is a global project that supports access to education for girls. Glow for It is a six piece set that focuses on eyes lips and cheeks and changed the gun metal ferrule to pink. In the set you get:-
- Angled Powder Brush
- Highlighting Fan Brush
- Eye shading brush
- Detailed Lip Brush
- Concealer Brush
- Mirror
You might be tempted to throw away the small mirror but don’t. In a purse or handbag it has proven to be invaluable for quick touch ups. This set really shows off the densely packed bristles eye and concealer brushes versus the fluffier face brushes. I’ve used and washed this set several times and not lost an bristles. The handles are sturdy and ferrules are secure.
Limited Edition Anniversary Set (£19.99)
To mark their 10th Anniversary EcoTools have come out with a limited edition seven piece set. A recycled aluminium brush canister that is the full length of the brushes so you can really travel with it. It is a mixture of face and eye brushes so you can do your whole face on the move.
- Airbrush Finishing (duo fibre stippling brush)
- Highlight (fan brush)
- Controlled Setting (small fluffy face brush)
- Spoolie
- Angled Crease (eyeshadow brush)
- Flat Eyeliner (push liner)
- Eye Lip Blur (fluffy pencil brush)
This is not the set to use if you want to pack on the slap. The brushes provide a diffuse glowy finish on the skin and are perfect for warmer weather makeup. They blend out product like a dream. You can complete your whole makeup look with these brushes and they are housed in a beautiful rose gold canister which protects your brushes when you are on the move. The controlled setting brush is my favourite of the bunch. I’ve used to buff out eyeshadow, set concealer, highlight and contour, it is a really versatile brush. The eye / lip blush brush is perfect for inner corner highlight on small and hooded eyes and the eyeliner brush is perfect for cream eyeshadow application.
