The older I get, the more I love a cream eye shadow formula.  I have been curious about the Tom Ford Cream Colour for Eyes formula for some time. Rich decadent colours are Tom Ford’s comfort zone.  They have received rave reviews not only for the colours but also for the texture.

I chose Midnight Orchid (obvs) as this shade is the most purple of all but all the shades are pretty.  The texture is much looser than a MAC Paint Pot.  This is definitely not a product to dig your brush (or your finger) into.  The Cream Colour for Eyes have a gel texture, which when applied to the lid it feels very cool.  It places a thin layer of colour on the lid.  It is possible to build it up but that really isn’t necessary.

I like to apply it with a fluffy brush (like a MAC 217).  I pat it onto the majority of the id and then blend the edges into the socket area.  It dries very quickly and is not at all tacky or sticky on the lid.  If you are going to use it as a base for a powder shadow, you will need to work fast.  Apply your powder products while the cream colour is still slightly damp for greatest longevity. but it does make a great base for eye shadow. Truth is it is very pretty and you probably don’t/wont want to wear a shadow over it.

The purple is quite light in intensity and tone. It is not an imperial purple – rather it is a grey mauve shade with blue and silver micro shimmer.  The shimmer particles are not at all gritty on the skin and the more you buff the product the more shimmery effect you get. If  you like to apply a wash of colour to the lids this are quick and easy to use.

They last all day and don’t crease.  As with all cream shadows, make sure you close the lid tightly so it doesn’t dry out.  This is a Limited Edition release for Spring so catch it while you can.  Tom Ford is now available in House of Fraser and John Lewis (online) so you can often find shades that sell out immediately in Selfridges, Harvey Nichols and Harrods.  They are some warm beige and brown shades that will be perfect for quick and easy makeup days. The Cream Colour for Eyes mean the love affair with Tom Ford continues!
