I’m back on the candle wagon with this elegant looking candle from Baylis and Harding.Black Pepper and Ginseng is not my usual choice of fragrance for a candle but this one was bought with the Mr at the back of my mind. Not that I dont also love a black pepper fragrance but he is more of a fan and I was looking to create an ambiance that was a little more stimulating then my usual citrus and floral choices.
I picked this up on a trip to my local supermarket, having had quick sniff of the box. It was not the strongest fragrance but I definitely got the black pepper notes It also wasn’t the cheapest candle on the shelf but I figured that the Baylis and Harding background in fragranced bath and body products would translate well to a candle. The packaging is pretty nifty. Black and brown which is generally a pretty chic combination and makes this candle pretty giftable. The box opens up easily to reveal the candle which is understated in its appeal.
Got it home, it lit… no fragrance. A couple of hours later, the Mr walked into the room – I asked him if could smell it… he couldn’t. Hmmm. Sister came round… lit the candle again no fragrance. None. Very disappointing. I was not expecting the most amazing throw of fragrance or the most intense scent… but I expected something. Sadly not. I am getting through the thirty hours of burn time quite quickly so that I can use it to store my eye and lip pencils. Waste not want not after all!!
