Beautylish is an American website which has a small edit of great skincare hair and beauty products. This is the site where Wayne Goss launched his makeup brushes and until recently they did not ship to to UK. A trawl of the YouTube and you will see everyone talking about the high end brands (Natasha Denona, Charlotte Tilbury) that are on this site, however, they also sell Bioderma and Inglot, both of which are affordable and both of which are now available on the UK high street.
The #beautylish lucky bag is an annual event based on the Japanese Fukubukuro (lucky bag). For seventy five dollars you are guaranteed a bag with a value of at least one hundred and fifty dollars, potentially more. You don’t know what you are going to get, which is the fun / risk of this bag. Unlike a subscription box, this is a one off. My last experience of a beauty box was Wantable. That subscription came to an abrupt end when the UK Courier Yodel decided to open the box and put the individual contents of my box into my letter box as I was not at home to receive the package… the delivery driver opened my package. No, I am not joking. Yes. That really happened. Really.
Anyway.. I ummed and ahhed about whether to get the lucky bag because what is seventy five pounds plus five pounds shipping for beauty loves in the states becomes seventy five pounds for the bag, seventeen dollars in taxes and ten dollars shipping, making a total of one hundred and two dollars (approximately seventy pounds). In UK money I would be guaranteed one hundred pounds worth of product for the price of seventy. Good value but not a good as the Americans get.
So what did I get?
Bioderma Micellar Water – $6.95/£4.82
Bioderma is my favourite micellar water – I think that there was one of these in every #luckybag2016 This is the onehundred millilitre size so I will be useing it for travel.
It Cosmetics Hello Lashes Mascara $24.00 / £16.63 (£20 on Rose’s Beauty Store)
Apparently, this mascara is clinically proven to volumise, prime, enhance, tint and curl your lashes – I am really excited to try it!
Wayne Goss 05 Brush $20.00 / £13.85
Woop woop – under eye smudger and inner corner highlighter here I come. Let’s see if the hype is real!
Anastasia Self Made Palette $35.00 / £24.25 (£26 on the Cult Beauty )
My first Anastasia product and it’s a doozy. Deep purple – need I say more?!
Becca Poured Highlighter (Moonstone) $38.00 /£26.33 (£30 on the Cult Beauty )
This is an interesting one – Moonstone is a pale gold shade so generally promoted as a colour for pale complexions, but, this is the cream formula and I have swatched it… watch this space:0)
Kevyn Aucoin Bronzer (Sahara Nights) $48.00 / £33.26 (£36 on the Cult Beauty )
Clearly this shade will not be a bronzer on me – it is too light… but… I have plans for this powder.
The total value of this box is over $170. Is it worth it? For a beauty junkie who likes trying new products – yes. The value is consistently marginally better then the UK price and whilst I can get hold of these products in the UK, the truth is, none of these items are on my very extensive beauty wish lish.. I am really excited to try them all – look out for reviews on the blog over the coming months.
If you picked up a Beautylisgh #luckybag2016 I would love to know what you got in your bag.
