Last week I was introduced to British beauty brand Glo and Ray. A carefully selected edit of complexion and colour products as well as two products to remove makeup.
The foundation range currently does not have shades deep enough for my skintone but I have been advised that the team are working on extending the range. If you follow me on Instagram, you will have seen that I have been testing some products from the range. Here are my initial thoughts.
I am not a big primer person as I find that generally my makeup lasts on my face pretty well. I did find that this product left a white cast on my skin, when I used it.
The addition of my Cover FX Custom Cover drops gave it a tinted moisturiser type texture but it was not my favourite product of those that I tried.
Long Lasting Silky Eyeliner £5.50
The eyeliners from Glo and Ray are definitely my favourite products from the range.
There are some great colours, including a true black and a gorgeous bronze – they are vibrant with an almost gel texture.
Perfect for a pop of colour on the waterline or on the lash line
Shimmer Shimmer Lip Colour Set £36.00
This is a great lip trio set.
An vibrant orange shade orange, called marigold. A pink, which is called honey but in my opinion is more pink then golden in shade and an exclusive and beautiful purple which is my favourite of the three (obvs) called Asteria.
The lipsticks are moisturising and pigmented and despite the set being called Shimmer Shimmer, I didn’t see any sparkle or shimmer when I wore them.
Each lipstick is twelve pounds or the set is available on their website for thirty six.
Mariposa Eyeshadow Quad in Violet Emotion £12.50
There are six eyeshdow quads currently available in the range and I have been very fortunate to try the purple quad which is called Violet Emotion. I am very happy to see that the quad comes without foam tipped applicators – at this price point they would only be thrown away.
The four shades in the quad are two silvers one glittery and one shimmery and two purple shades, one violet tone and an aubergine shade. The texture of the shadows is quite dry which means that you have to pick up quite alot of colour on the brush and subsequently get some fall out. I have used it wet and it does reduce the fall out. There is also some improvement in the intensity the colour.
If you spend any time on the website I would definitely point you towards the cream eye shadows which have a mousse texture and some amazing colours and the setting powder.
