When you think about the range Vichy, what pops into your mind? This French Pharmacy brand is renowned for beautiful textures and high quality skincare. Their Dermablend range is a high coverage complexion range for dealing with blemished skin. If you feel that you need full coverage for acne scarring, birth marks or hyper pigmentation Dermablend is formulated for you.
I have scars from spots on my skin and hyper pigmentation around my chin. I would not consider it to be really bad and generally some concealer will sort out any issues that I have but I was interested in trying this range as after thirty years on the market, the shade range has been extended. Cafe and Espresso the new shades are SPF 25 rather than 35 as the other shades in the range but they offer the same full coverage for 16 hours of wear.
As someone that loves a stick foundation, I think that I know what full coverage foundation is. this however is a different matter. With very little product my dark marks were gone completely for the whole day. This foundation contains 25% pigmented which is significantly more than most liquid foundations. As a result the coverage is opaque. Very full coverage – no concealer needed as it covers up darks marks and spots easily. However, I found that when I didn’t wear primer, it moved slightly on the face – especially where my glasses sit on my nose. It also needed to be powdered a couple of times in the day as it transfers readily.
For me, Espresso is not quite my perfect match. It is partly to do with the titanium dioxide in the product but also the undertone. I added a drop of CoverFx custom cover drops which helped alot, but what I really needed was a bit of orange in the blend. I used my MaqPro palette for that and the result was instantly better. All was not lost however, after a bit of bronzer blusher and highlighter I looked fine.
This makeup ‘feels’ heavier on the skin than some other foundations that I have. There is a slight issue with flash back in photography from the foundation so this is not the product to wear when you are taking a selfie. Having said all that – if you feel like your skin is not the best and you are looking for camouflage makeup this is a good option especially as the shade range has been extended – although in my opinion the brand should go at least three shades deeper and fit in a couple of shades between Cafe and Espresso. As well as the liquid foundation there is also a stick, a face and body liquid foundation and powder so there may be a different formula that works for you.
