Essence nail colours come in a wide variety and textures and over the past couple of months I have been testing lots of them. I am really impressed with the range of colours and their longevity. You need to apply a base and top coat to get up to five days of wear, but considering that prices start from one pound and sixty pence this are fantastic value. If you find a colour that you like in a formula that you adore, I would suggest that you pick up two – it is always good to have a back up!
Light Reflections
Great way to cocktail nail colours be they essence or any other brand. The ‘soap bubble’ effect works best on deeper colours to see the greatest change in colour. I have popped pictures in for some of the shades so that you can see the effect.
Trend Alert – Ice to Meet you (the Pastels)
White with silver pink and blue micro shimmer. It dries matte and is opaque in two coats.
Trend Alert – Happy New Green (The Darks)
Love this one. It’s a blackened green with silver and blue reflex which dries matte.
It transforms to a beautiful oil on water colour effect with the Light Reflections top coat.
Soft Matte – Va Va Voom
The short brush means you can do the nail in one swipe and the application is perfect in two coats.
Light Reflections top coat intensifies the peach tone and gives it a shimmer, but personaly I prefer it matte.
Rock My World
Beautiful wearable grey. looks much more expensive then it is.
A coat of light reflections takes it to a shimmery silver with a purple undertone
My Love Diary
Advertised as colour of the year, it is a reference to the Pantone colour of 2015 which is Marsala very brown skin friendly
Wonderful
Shimmery purple, quite sheer on application, I’m not really a fan of this one. The addition of the Light Reflections top coat makes it more shimmery and increases the wear time.
Amazed by You
This is my absolute favourite of the bunch. Not only because it is purple but like Rock My World, it looks and applies like a much more expensive polish. Delicious. Light Reflections makes it look pretty but I prefer it without.
Liquid Foil – The Pink Bang
This one was opaque but a little streaky. You definitely need a second coat and a steady hand.
It has been alot of fun discovering this nail polish range. Let me know which colour is your favourite in the comments.
