Dior: State of Gold Illuminating Pressed Powder

Dior Sumptuous Pink

Dior Sumptuous Pink Illuminating Powder

I was very disciplined last year and only bought myself one beauty Christmas present.  Whilst everyone was going crazy for the Chanel Rouge Noir Limited Edition collection, I found myself repeatedly at the Dior counter.  For me, the Dior collection was better this year.  The textures were gorgeous and the colours more swoon worthy.

We have talked about my highlighter obsession already in this corner of cyberspace so it is no surprise that I plumped for the illuminating powder but what is surprising is the colour.  Available in Luxurious Beige or Sumptuous Pink, I  swatched both on the back of my hand but having seen the very beautiful Asian beauty consultant wearing the pink I had to give Sumptuous Pink a second look.

Normally with my rich skin tone, a gold or copper highlighter is what I would wear, pink highlighters have a tendency to be cool toned and therefore not as flattering… but.. that is the genius of Sumptuous Pink.  It is not cool toned.  At least on me, this is a neutral tone, and the pink iridescence is has a clear golden sheen which makes this powder very brown girl friendly.

The packaging is everything you want from a luxe product.  Classically beautiful with clean lines.  Weighty, gold and good looking.  the Mr thought it was a paperweight.  It comes in a velveteen pouch and a brush that is very useable especially if you are applying this on the go. For me, this is a boudoir product.  That is to say that I will luxuriate over application in the comfort of my own home.  I wouldn’t travel with it.  When you open the compact, it only opens to ninety degrees which is slightly annoying.  The powder is embossed with a herringbone and has the CD initials on

This is an illuminating powder not a highlighter so like the Hourglass Ambient Bronzer it provides glow rather than glitter.  For this reason, it is a gorgeous brow bone highlight ad it makes a beautiful eye shadow.  I intend not to use it for inner eye highlighter as it is quite muted.

I picked mine up a couple of weeks before Christmas so was able to take advantage of pre Christmas discounts and loyalty card points.  It is definitely worth a swatch if you are in store and whilst the Luxurious Beige might be  the obvious choice, don’t overlook Sumptuous Pink.  It really is very very pretty.
