Paul and Joe AW16

Autumn is my favourite season (I’m a September baby) and a great time for beauty lovers.  The new collections for what the Americans call the ‘holiday season’ launch and there is lots of newness everywhere.  Paul and Joe have focused on brows eye and lips with a pop of colour on the cheeks.  The whole range is infused with white lily and orange flower extracts for hydration.  The collection is on the neutral side of the autumnal palette.  No vampy gothic colours – just wearable shades and of course pretty packaging!

Waterproof Eyebrow Pen (£14)

Paul and Joe AW16

When I first saw this eyeliner-eque pen, I did not hold out much hope for my brows.  A quick swatch showed that the colour was true to its name – grey. My brows are black… (apart from the silver grey hairs).  The texture if very light but buildable. I just did not think that it would provide enough impact on my face.  How wrong was I?  Very wrong.

The tails of my brows are very sparse and is where I focus most of my attention.  The trick is to use short light strokes to replicate brow hairs.  The effect is a natural yet full brow and the grey tone matches my brows perfects.  Be sure your brows are free of skincare or foundation before use.  A quick swipe with a micellar water before application will ensure that you get the best coverage.  You can use a brow gel over the top but I don’t.  Apply the colour, let is dry and then brush through with a spoolie and I am good to go.

Warm Beige Lipstick  (£14) and Lipstick Case (£7)

Paul and Joe AW16

Paul and Joe are famous for their kitch and cats but for their limited edition autumn winer shades, their designs are distinctly foliage based.  My favourite is design features abstract leaves in purple (obvs) green and pink tones.   Warm beige is a very wearable nude (with the aid of a brown lipliner).  The glossy formula has jojoba and cocoa seed oil so it glides onto the lips easily.  You don’t need a mirror and you can build up the colour.  My favourite way to wear it is to put a deep brown liner all over the lips and then add warm beige to the centre to highlight the lips.

September Song Eye Colour (£17)

Paul and Joe AW16

This trio is perfect for a September baby like me.  A really wearable trio of shades that are perfect for the autumn.  The neutral brown and cranberry shades have a satin finish and apply smoothly to the skin.  The pink highlighter shade has silver micro-shimmers and the colour combination works beautifully together.  The brown can be used in the crease as the sheen is not too strong but the hero of the trio is definitely the cranberry shade.
