Urban Decay have had a bit of a coup being the make up brand associated with the film Alice Through the Looking Glass. (OPI are the nail brand). It is the sequel to the 2010 film Alice in Wonderland which starred Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen . Get ready for lots of make up tutorials on YouTube of recreations of the look.
There is a gorgeous eyeshadow palette but I didn’t purchase it because
a) I have will power and
b) I am still in love with my spectrum palette.
It is really lovely in person so if you are in the market it is definitely worth a look. There are six lipsticks and the purple (obvs) was a must have for me.
Before we get into the colour can we take a moment to talk about the packaging? The lipstick is £16 so on a par with MAC but way prettier. There is a kaleidoscopic flower print on the exterior of the tube and lid is full length rather than half sized as you get with a mac lipstick. At first glance it looks like it is stuck on transfer but it is part of the tube. Very pretty. It is not a weighty lippy but the packaging is so pretty that you forgive it.
Mad Hatter is described as a metallized, which is is – there is a definite iridescence an almost fuchsia pink shift but describing this colour as metallic does not tell you about the fact it is laden in silver microshimmer which as the lipstick wears on the mouth get left behind and contribute to the metallic finish.
In the film the Mad Hatter is portrayed by Johnny Depp – I have not seen the film so I am not sure if he is going to be wearing this colour but this is my first Urban Decay lippie and I am very happy with it.
Look out for another urban decay release and purchase from me. Urban decay they are coming out with 100 lipstick shades in six finishes called #lipstickismyvice and there are some delectable purples among them. I have my Debenhams beauty card at the ready for my soon to be purchases.
