Skin Laundry: Skin Purifying Cream Cleanser

I don’t know much about the brand Skin Laundry but they are a brand that is featured on heavy rotation by Liberty so I figured it was worth a punt. They are an American beauty brand have placed themselves into the clean beauty category. My favourite way to get to know a new skincare brand is with a cleanser. They don’t have a cleansing oil or balm so I started with their cleansing cream.

On the skin

It emulsifies so if you are wearing makeup you will see for example some of your foundation lift . There is a little slip but it does not keep going in the way that an oil and cleansing balm does. There is a light fragrance but it does not linger on the skin.

Method of use

It is housed in a soft touch plastic bottle which means that it is not so slippery in damp hands. The click top is convenient, but I personally would have preferred a pump. Skin Laundry recommend that it is massage onto damp skin or 30 – 60 seconds and then towelled or rinsed off. I have to admit that I tend to use it on dry skin, I add a small amount of water to the product to loosen it slightly and remove it with a damp flannel. Why? Well because have used many cream cleansers before and that is how I have used them.

It gave the same effect at the Skin Laundry prescribed method. I found that this product does not have a lot of slip which is a feature that I enjoy in a cleanser. Slip encourage additional facial massage. Lack of slip makes it more of a wash and go, functional step in in skincare routine. Cleansing is my favourite part of my skincare so it is disappointing.

As A Makeup Remover

Generally I will remove my makeup before going in with my skin cleanser. Skin Laundry claim that the Skin Purifying Cream Cleanser can do both. I have given it a go on many occasions and I am sad to report that it did not work for me. There was always some remnant of my foundation left behind. I always needed to go back in with either a micellar water or a cleansing oil or balm.

Final Thoughts

As you can see from the pictures I used half the product before reviewing it. I like it but I have to say I don’t love it. I may pass this product to my sister who I think will fare better with it. At £20.00 for 200ml it is pretty good value. There is nothing wrong with the product or the ethos of the brand BUT with continued use, I have noticed that my skin is slightly more dehydrated than usual which I don’t like. I am a skincare fanatic and so I am able to deal with it through my other skincare products, but on days when I pair my skincare routine right back, I really notice the impact on my skin. I have combination skin and I imagine if you were oiler it might work better for you but it is not the one for me.
