Lola is a Spanish brand that is retailed exclusively in Marks and Spencer. They have a wide range of colour products (though no complexion products for deeper skintones and the fact that Marks and Spencer would introduce a new cosmetic brand to their beauty hall without ensuring that it is an inclusive beauty brand is beyond me but anyway…) and some great textures so I was happy to receive this lipstick in a goody bag.
The packaging is NARS esque in texture – the rubberised black plastic rubber that gets dirty quickly. A squat square tube with Lola printed unusually on the lid rather than the unit with the product in it.
When I opened up the tube, I have to admit, I was disturbed by the colour. It is the tone of pink that I assumed would look terrible on me. Thankfully this is a sheer colour not a matte opaque. In addition, the colour in the tube is not true to what is on my lips. Even better though is the fact that the sheer lip colour packs a punch in terms of staining the lips, leaving a pretty pink on the lips that I prefer to the pink colour that is deposited when it is first applied (swatches on Instagram).
The formula is moisturising formula with a perfumed scent.
Despite the prettiness of the stain, this is just a meh lippie for me. I know that there is a matte lip range so I will investigate the colour options to see if they are a better fit for my needs.
