Event: #Makegood – The Beauty Edit.

#Makegood

#MakegoodThe School for Creative Startups help you take your business idea from just an idea to a viable startup.  The nine month course includes a variety of courses from from various business titans.  The course concludes with a four day expo / pop up called Makegood.  The course is run in London and Kent and this year nearly two hundred startups exhibited and I was there.

Here is a run down of some of the beauty businesses that were there.

Nails and Brows – I was so happy to reconnect with Sherrille who I met previously at KeziahConnections.  Sherrille’s business is Nails and Brows which is located in Mayfair and has been praised by the British Editions of Both Vogue and Harpers Bazaar.  With over fifteen years in the beauty industry, this lady knows what’s what.  Sherrille and her team provide a walk in service using a range of nail colours including Kure, which I love and have reviewed here.  I am really proud Sherrille and her achievements

If you want to find out about Nails and Brows have a look here or visit their website Twitter and Instagram.  They are NailsandBrows across all their channels.

Superfood LX

Superfood LX

Another brand that I had connected with before was Superfood lx.  This luxury hair brand from mother (Cherry) and daughter (Paula) team who are a nurse and nutritionist by trade so that know about what the hair needs and how to provide it in the best way.  They currently have two products in the range (anazing hair conditioners for different hair types called Illuminate and Illuminism) but watch this space, there is newness to come!  The hair conditioners Makegood was the perfect forum for them to showcase their products.  For more information head to their website www.superfoodlx.com or their Instagram and Twitter (Superfoodlx)

Gavin Green

Gavin Green Candle

I met the meticulously groomed Gavin Green at Makegood.  He is not an alumni of the School for Creative Startups but he was launching his new range of mens products at the event.  How exciting!  I got to play with  the hydrating oil (beautiful texture and fragrance)  and a new product that he has not launched yet (look out for a review shortly) Gavin’s experience as a journalist, combined with his art and fashion background and his passion for complementary medicines have merged to create a small but perfectly formed edit of products created for men by a man in travel sizes which makes it perfect for gym bags, travelling and overnight bags.

As a beauty junkie, I am always happy to see new British Brands starting and these startups have definitely focused on filling a gap in the market.  Lets see how they progress in the coming years.
