Brand Alert: Puressentiel

Puressentiel

One of the best things about blogging is finding new products that you love.  Even better then that however is finding brands that you love.  Puressnetial has popped onto my radar in the past week and I am already a big fan.  Not only do I like this brand for me, there are products in the range for most of my friends and family members.  From not being able to sleep, to smelly teen boys to arthrictic joints and products for baby there is something for everyone in this range.  French brand Puressentiel is ten years old with approximately one hundred and fifty items in their range.  We only have one tenth of the full range in the UK this is definitely a brand to watch.

Puressentiel

Puressential describe themselves as an aromatherapy brand.  I love aromatherpy brands but this is different.  There are many reasons for this but the two main reasons are the heritage of Isabelle Pachionni the creator of the brand.  Her parents were anaturalist and a herbalist so she was brought up with not only a belief but a knowledge of phytochemisty (plant chemistry).  This perspective brings her to aromoatherapy not from a pretty smell or sensorial benefit but directly from the plant chemistry.

The hero product from the range contains forty one essential oils.  In anyone else’s hands this would be a heady cocktail that you probably would not be about to stomach for too long yet in her hands, the product and this is somehting that I found across the whole range is that there is a freshness.  All the products have a fresh/herby medicinal rather than a fruity floral fragrance that many brand on the UK market have.

The brand is very unisex, very family friendly and really reasonably priced and the dispensing mechanism for all the products is fast and effective.

That is alot of essential oils and it is clear from the list where the anti bacterial, anti viral, and anti fungal activity comes from BUT the fragrance is not overly minty or camphor-y.  It smells clean, but not in a ‘clean cotton’ kind of way.  It is the smell you would wish every hospital smelt like – not overpowering, but really pleasant and clean.  I have been spraying it after cooking, in the loo (yes it works on those smells) on my mattress, pillows sofa and the Mr’s smelly shoes … so far so good.

Rest and Relax Spray

Puressentiel

This spray is for spray in the room where are going to sleep. Only 12 essentail oils in this product,

  • Rosewood
  • Roman Chamomile
  • Cypress

It smells different from the air purifier but is shares the herbacious base.  The instructions say to spray it in the room or spray a tissue by the corner of hte bed but I have to admit that I have been spraying it over the bed about half an hour before I go to sleep.  i cant say that my sleep has improved because of it, but it certainly has not been inhibited by it and it is just a lovely fragrance to have in the room.  Neither of these sprays will replace my candles, but there is certainly space for both of them in my routine.

Puressentiel is available from selected Boots and John Bell and Croydon.  Prices start from £9.99
