Sixty Seconds with …Roger and Gallet Rose Hand and Nail Cream

Roger and Gallet rose handcream

Roger and Gallet a lovely French brand that has been creating fragrance for over two hundred years.  If you read my blog regularly you will know that I am not a fan of rose scented skincare, but I also know that not all rose fragrance is created equally.  If I really did not like it, I have a sister who loves all things rose to pass it to and I am a huge fan of handcream – which is  the reason for the review.

Roger and Gallet Rose Handcream

Lets get the fragrance issue addressed first.  This is an authentic rose fragrance, you will recognise it immediately as rose, it is not blended with other notes and to my citrus loving nose, it is pretty strong.  The fragrance stays on the hand for about seven to ten minutes after application.  I gave my sister an opportunity to use this handcream before writing the review and she claims that this product does not smell ‘all that rosy’ …but she is a rose fanatic!

The handcream is paraben free and described as being in a natural base.  This is a water based handcream with olive oil, glycerine and shea butter.  It is described as a moisturising formula but it is not greasy and leaves that hands quite matte after application which means that you can open doors and do up your buttons immediately afterwards.    When it is applied to the skin it is very cool and then warms up so it will be good as the weather warms up.

I am a fan of a heavier handcream and despite the moisturising ingredients this is not quite moisturising enough.  Even though this is the perfect handbag size (30 ml), my dry skin still needs a richer formula.  Roger and Gallet handcream is available from Marks and Spencer and retails for £6:00
