Sonia Kashuk is the cosmetics maven behind the name Sonia Kashuk. Starting as a make up artist, Sonia decided to create a beauty line which includes award winning brushes and is retail through Target in the states. A bit like having a direct relationship with a TV shopping channel, the price point of the range is low whilst the quality is high.
Sonia Kashuk is well known for her brushes. A mixture of synthetic and natural fibres in a range of colours, shapes and sizes – there is literally a brush for every make up need in her range. Last year when I did my international beauty swap with my fabulous instagram pal @2vidasindallas, Sonia Kashuk brushes were at the top of my list.
The Instant Smokey Brush Set is four travel sized brushes contained within a zip pouch and a set of instructions on how to use the brushes. Each brush is labelled so you know exactly what to do with it and what order to use the brushes in.
- Brush one: is what you use to pack colour onto the lid. It has a domed shape like many eyeshadow brushes but it is wider then most in my collection.
- Brush two: is the crease brush, it looks like a mini angled kabuki brush.
- Brush three: is used at the lashline to define the look. I dont have another brush shaped like this. The bristles are very short, the brush is long and probably three times the thickness of my push liner brushes.
- Brush four: is the smudger brush – rather like a domed pencil brush.
The brush set cost one cent under fifteen dollars and the brushes are a mixture of pony, goat and synthetic hair. The value is immense and the brushes are great. When I first got the set, I was concerned that the brushes one and three would be too big for my lids but I made them work. Blending is easy and the shorter handles are still ergonomically comfortable to use.
The kit is a great size for travelling and doing your make up on the go with plastic cover over the brushes which prevents shadow transferring onto the mirror that is is the pouch. If your eyeshadows are quite thin, there will be room for you to put them into the pouch too. If you have access to Target – get hold of a set.
