Marc Jacobs: Lip Creme in Scandal (226)

Marc Jacobs Scandal

My sizable Marc Jacobs haul from earlier this year is still part of my regular make up routine.  You can see my posts here and here.  My favourite purchase is hands down Scandal.  The purple lipstick that has been rocking my world since I bought it.

The packaging is sexy. Sleek black laquer, magnetic with the smoothest turning mechanism.  It is weighty in the hand and definitely has the purse factor.  It also is not prone to being scratched or damaged in a full make up bag which is good news because I carry alot of products with me day to day.

The colour is the most delicious deep purple (obvs).  It is a really wearable colour, not only because it is not a flat matte but also because the shade is deep and vampy but with enough red to make it not scary.  If you look at the bullet you will see  violet shimmer.  Interestingly the micro shimmer does not register at all on my lips.  I am not sure whether to be disappointed or grateful about that. I am not averse to a sprinkling of shimmer in a lipstick especially when the shade is dark.  That said, I don’t feel like I am missing out for not having it.

It is claimed that Scandal will give 10 hours of wear – this of course is not the case.  It is long wearing but if you eat burger and chips you will need to touch up.  I don’t wear a lip liner with Scandal and I find that it does stain the lips as it wears. With Scandal, the Marc Jacobs range yet again is vying for my Tom Ford affections as my favourite luxury brand.  Alasdhair is my favourite Tom Ford lipstick and until it is made full sized, Scandal trumps YSL’s Rouge Poupre Divine and Alasdhair!
