It’s not beginning to smell like Christmas with Spitalfields Candle Company

The Spitalfields Candle Company Orange and Clove

Orange and Clove has to be one of the most traditional Christmas smells.  For the London based Spitalfields Candle Company, it is where the brand began. The first candle that the brand created and the start of their journey which has taken them from a stall in hipsterville aka Spitalfields market to independent stockists across the south east.

When I was ready to burn it and do my research on the brand, I found that they were not as active on social media as I had hoped.  Their last tweet was last year and the Facebook page was not regularly used but their website is still running.

Packaging

The box has a vintage map of Spitalfields Market and the surrounding streets.  A nod to the fact that the candles are batch made in the area. The scented sustainably sourced soy wax is housed in a light grey glass jar.  The colour of jar is a point of different from the majority of clear glass that is on the market.  That said the light grey tone does not disrupt the colour scheme of your interiors.

The Scent

The box smells amazing.  Intense sweet orange and spicy clove. I was really looking forward to burning this candle. Sadly, I was a bit disappointed.  A 65g candle is small.  It has 12 hours of burn time.  I was not expecting a huge throw of scent but I did not get any. I burnt is in my bathroom which is the smallest room in my home.  Less than 2 square metres.  I have burnt many candles of this size and usually are able to fill my bathroom with scent.  With the Spitalfields Candle Company I had to stand next to the candle to get a gentle whiff.  The scent was lovely and quite Christmassy but not enough to get me in the Christmas mood.
