The Next Beauty line has had a bit of a revamp. The products are looking much more stylish. Everything has the tagline ‘Make Me Beautiful’ and the packaging with it’s silver accents and pops of colour is pretty sleek.I noticed a couple of concealer shades at the launch but Next have generally steered clear of complexion products. From a personal perspective this is a good thing as based on the concealer shades that I saw, there would not have been any shades for my rich skin tone.
The range has been designed and developed in the UK. All of the products I have been testing were made in the EU – with the exception of the eye shadow quad which was made in China. None of the products have been tested on Animals and the range is FRAME (Fund for the Replacement of Animals in Medical Experiments) certified.
Alphabet Filled White Jasmine Scented Candle (£4)
If you love a high end candle aesthetic, you need to take a look at these candles. They come in every letter of the alphabet as well as a hashtag, a heart and an ampersand. At £4 you can create a very ‘blogger’ background by grouping candles together or spelling out your name. They throw of scent is not as much as a more expensive candle, but the lily, honeysuckle and jasmine scent is pretty and subtle. The more candles you have the greater the scent in the room and a four pounds a pop you can get ten, for the price of one high end one!
Nail Colour Collection (£4)
There are a range of textures and colours and you get fourteen millilitres of products which is comparable to a Nails Inc or OPI shade and nearly three times more than a Mavala shade. If you sandwich the colours in your favourite base and top coat you will have colour for days.
Make Me Beautiful Sheer Chubby Stick (£8)
This is called sheer but the Cherry Red Chubby Stick is VERY pigmented. It applies very easily to the lips and the colour is both buildable and glossy, or you can sheer it out. It contains a mixture silicones, castor oil and the texture is super smooth.
Make Me Beautiful Perfect Matte Lip Colour (£8)
This lipstick is impressive. Despite the fact that Simply Peach is really not my shade (I would need to work hard with brown lip liner and probably gloss to make it work) the texture is really good. Smooth, pigmented and properly matte without drying out the lips. If Next were to make this in purple…. wow.
Make Me Beautiful Perfect Look Ink Liner (£8)
The point on this liner is thin but not super fine so it is great for creating a winged liner.
Make Me Beautiful Perfect Look Shadows (£7.50)
These baked shadows are quite hard in the pan and provide a sheer wash of colour which is buildable. they can also be used wet and me being me, I have used this colour on the cheeks to provide a subtle purple glow on the cheeks.
From Fragrance to candles to brushes, the breadth of the Next Beauty range is impressive. There are some great affordable options.
