Shay and Blue – Blood Oranges

Shay and Blue Blood Oranges

Blood Oranges from Shay and Blue has been on my wish list for some time.  Every time I go to an M&S with a beauty department I liberally douse myself in it.  Liberally.  There is nothing quite like this in my orange scent collection.  A juicy orange fragrance is not ground breaking within the realm of fragrance but Blood Oranges is a bit of a cult classic.

When you spray it into the air and when you first spritz it on the skin there is an initial mouth watering moment where you do feel like you have literally cut open a perfectly ripe blood orange.  This mouth watering element is retained for a couple of hours but pretty quickly the woodiness and amber start to peak through.  This is not a cologne which takes you from lemon to no lemon in four to six hours.  It is more complex than that but still very easy to wear.  This has the longevity of a cologne.  You will need to reapply it even in cooler weather, and because it smells so delicious you will want to.  This fragrance does not announce itself without you.  It stays very very close to the skin thanks in part to the musk.  Whilst it is a gourmand, it definitely sits at the cologne end of my collection.

This is also part of my happy collection.  Not happy from Clinique, which is a fragrance that I love and work to death in my twenties.  I have a selection of fragrances that make me happy, they are mood shifters and this sits firmly in the middle of that group.  Every time I smell this fragrance is makes me smile.  It takes me to a happy place, and any fragrance that can do that is worth it’s weight in gold in my opinion!
